Kellan Roux - Rooftop Before the Run
The city looked expensive from above. That was the trick. From below, it looked hungry.
Kellan counts the gates twice and the cameras once. He knows the run is not supposed to count. He knows that is why everyone who matters is watching.
Neo Noctis glows below him like money pretending to be weather. The towers sell clean light. The Lowline throws it back broken, wet, and moving. Somewhere under the service deck, Gate 8 is waiting with its mouth shut.
He checks the board with his thumb, then checks the city with his eyes. The camera drones are not official. That makes them worse. Official cameras have angles, contracts, and names on the insurance. These have appetite.
Kellan does not need them to like him. He needs the line to survive the first replay. He needs the clip to look like a choice, not luck. If the run goes clean, someone upstairs will call it talent. If it goes wrong, someone below will call it terms.
The countdown never appears. Off Ledger runs do not ask permission from numbers. They begin when everyone in the room understands it is too late to leave.
Kellan counts the gates twice and the cameras once. He knows the run is not supposed to count. He knows that is why everyone who matters is watching.
The Archive is how G//LYDE opens before Volume Zero: story fragments, route lore, character pressure, visual drops, and files that make the sport feel lived in.
